Local visibility management

Someone looking for a nearby business usually checks the map rather than a website.

Three things stand out in local ranking: distance, profile completeness and reviews. Only two of them are in your hands. A missing category, outdated opening hours and a profile without photographs are the most common reasons for sitting behind a competitor at the same distance.

Reviews work through more than the score. A measured reply offering a resolution to a negative review is often more decisive for the next customer reading it than the review itself.

A profile is not somewhere you fill in once and leave. Adding photographs, keeping the service list current and not leaving the questions section empty are among the signals that show the profile is alive.

The category setting is the most underestimated part of this product. The primary category directly determines which searches you appear in; one chosen wrongly or too broadly keeps a profile invisible in relevant searches even when everything else is complete. Secondary categories widen coverage but do not replace the primary one.

The business name, address and phone number need to be written identically everywhere. When social profiles, directories and your own site disagree, the search engine cannot decide which is correct. Leaving the questions section unused is another missed signal; even if customers post nothing, a business can add and answer its own frequently asked questions.

Frequently asked

Can a negative review be removed?

Only reviews breaching platform policy can be appealed; unwelcome but compliant reviews stay. In that case the tone of your reply is what shapes the impact.

Can a business without a physical address have a profile?

Service-area businesses can create a profile without displaying an address. Defining the covered areas accurately then becomes the main signal standing in for the address.

Does updating the profile affect ranking?

It guarantees no position, but complete and current profiles perform noticeably better. Category selection in particular is the field that makes the most difference for most businesses.

What if someone else has claimed my profile?

A claim request can be opened through Google. The current owner is notified, and if there is no response within a set period the request goes to review; official documents proving the business may be requested.

How are businesses with several branches managed?

A separate profile is created for each branch, because distance drives local ranking. The profiles can be managed under one account; branch names need to be written consistently and each needs its own address and phone number.

What is needed before work on the profile begins?

A verified profile with management rights held by the business. Verification usually happens by post or by phone, and that step is not something we can speed up. Alongside it we ask for current opening hours, the right category, and photographs that genuinely show the place; without those three, any improvement stays superficial.

Do I need to add you as an owner to have the profile managed?

No. Primary ownership stays with the business and we work with manager rights, which can be withdrawn from the dashboard at any time and whose removal deletes nothing on the profile. Photos, reviews and questions are attached to the profile itself, so a change of rights does not affect them.

After editing the profile, when do changes take effect?

It depends on the field. Opening hours, phone number and the description usually appear quickly; photos and posts most often go live immediately. Edits that require verification — the business name, the category, the address — go into review instead, and while that review runs the profile keeps showing its previous details.
